Weber School District is on a mission to provide educational experiences that equip students with skills needed to enter the workforce. This pushed Weber to adopt computer science education for their K-6 students. Because their classroom teachers were already overwhelmed, the district decided to use the time students already spent in computer lab rotations with paraprofessionals for learning CS. Their paraprofessionals did not have previous CS experience, making it so Weber School District needed to find an easy-to-implement and easy-to-use solution.

An Easy-to-Implement Computer Science Solution for Paraprofessionals

Weber partnered with Skill Struck because of the platform’s built-in CS curriculum. The ready-to-use lessons with games, activities, projects, quizzes, and checkpoints that are assessed through an auto-grader made it simple for their paraprofessionals with no prior coding experience to use in their computer lab rotations.

Expanding CS to All K-12 Students 

After a positive experience with implementation, support, and curriculum for K-6 during the 2021 school year, Weber School District expanded to build out a complete K-12 CS pathway in every school for the 2022 School Year.

 According to the 2022 State of CS report, only 5.6% of high school students in the U.S. enrolled in at least one CS course. At Weber School District, 82.7% of their K-6 students enrolled in a CS course from 2021 to 2022, making their enrollment more than 14x the national high school student enrollment average.
